3.5 week olds

Here are some close of photos of my chicks at 3.5 weeks old. Roo has a bigger comb and wattle. She is much bigger than him thou. I'll have to get some weights and post them. They are gettting more and more friendly. Today she walked on my arm to my shoulder and hung out there for awhile. he is not as friendly but will hang out on my hand or sleeve for awhile too.

Re: 3.5 week olds

Lovely :pics:!  The little roo has quite a lot of brown that is good to see.  I love their scruffy stage, and their big bubble gum colour comb that pops up like a big sail! This is the age where they get way friendlier if they were shy before.  Lovely! :EO:

Re: 3.5 week olds

PG, the toe is still crooked. I decided not to worry about it. Its not that bad and she can get around just fine. Like you said, it will easy to pick her out so I don't breed her.

Re: 3.5 week olds

Since the crooked toe is the result of a tough incubation (so very unlikely to be genetic) I would not necessarily say you shouldn't breed her. But you will always know which girl she is, no leg bands needed ;)

So cute. Very nice pics. Are the line of EO's in the US related to our line here in Canada?

Re: 3.5 week olds

Hack, I believe that Skyline Poultry, James, got them from a Canadian source.

PG, I was thinking that is was probably from the hatch too. I'll have to see what I get from the my second batch and figure who should be bred. She also has willow, greenish, legs. Strike two.

My second batch of eggs from James was 100% fertile with just one that blood ringed. It was one of the small pullet eggs. That means I could have 13 more EOs soon!
