2 Euskal Oiloa Videos and a question....

What do you think of this roo? I feel like I need to do some research on the owner and see if we know him or he shows, that is one wide roo  and if he is show material, they are not as narrow as I thought from the Spanish pics.....there's a split sec where he looks like the pics we have seen , then you see how wide he is.  The second vid ones look like mine, same age I think.

I've watched those videos before but the web address in there doesn't work.  He sure is a nice coloured big rooster but I think the fact that he lifts his wings, as in he's hot, makes him look even wider.  He has a massive comb on him!  Maybe Lis or David would know this person?  I don't think we are too far off with the genetics from your birds Claire.

He does look wide. In general for now picking large roosters is probably a safe bet. I was surprised yesterday lifting Wellie how light he is. He looks big bit I think he's mostly feathers! The pullets are almost as heavy. I really need to start using a scale.

I agree with you about his comb Gubi. It's HUGE. I had trouble paying attention to other aspects of the roo, that comb just kept grabing my eye. I think a slightly smaller comb is perhaps better for our climate.

I am not sure this rooser is necessarily show quality or to the EO breed standard. I mean just because he's on Youtube doesn't mean he is good quality right? It would be nice to ask someone...

Re: 2 Euskal Oiloa Videos and a question....

I found this blog   http://errotabaserri.blogspot.com/  looks like they hadn't done anything on there since 2010  translation says

"We started raising chickens in 2010 with this incubation, 12 eggs Oiloa variety Euskal Marraduna, 12 Pinta Asturiana Black Pita, Pita Pinta Asturiana 5 and 24 Australorp Birch."

I will use google translate to try and contact them.  I commented on their You tube vid. =D
