Hello from Nova Scotia :-)

Hi...
We(Devin and Tara) live near Lawrencetown Beach on the eastern shore of Nova Scotia. We were interested in farming and are lucky to be able to have a small farm where we currently are. We are hoping to eventually move to farm land more suitable for sustainability,  growth and more animals. This year, we started out farming with some chickens. Our current flock includes Euskal Oiloas, Barred Rocks and Dark Cornish. We also just recently bought a flock of silver penciled plymouth rocks. Our aim is to have friendly farm animals, which led us to Chad at Riverbend.

Along with chickens, we have nine dogs... 6 border collies, 1 blue heeler BC mix, 1 mcnab cattle dog and a cane corso mastiff.

We will post some pics of our EOs in the pictures section. But here are all our chickens:

And in case there's any dog people, these are our dogs: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set … 5475ccfa21

:welcome: Tara

I think beside the definition of "farm friendly animals" in the dictionary could easily be a picture of an EO, you'll have to let us know what you think since you have a few different breeds there to compare to.

Raising red cuckoo (marraduna) Euskal Oiloak and self blue (lavender) & black Belgian Bearded d'Uccles.

Hello Tara & Devin,  :welcome:

You are going to love your E.O.'s.  We started 2 years ago from Riverbend also.  Love the breed and the friendliness, but watch out, they like piggy back rides!!

Re: Hello from Nova Scotia :-)

Welcome aboard Tara and Devin. Lots of great info here, especially regarding breed type and standard. We often post pics for advice when choosing breeding stock. I know you'll fall for the EOs, they charm everyone they meet. At watering time yesterday my wife had to stop and deliver hugs to about 35 attention-seeking EOs who think they are people.
