Pictures of some of this years chicks and some of my breeding birds

A few pictures of my favorite chicks (so far) from the 40 or so I have hatched. All have been healthy and a good size but LOTS of color variation.  These few have the whole package from what I can see so far.

Pure BHR maradunna cockerel. He does have a bit too much grey on his back but I really like him otherwise. 7 wks

Heterozygous barred cockerel. Really like the look of this little fellow so far. 5.5 wks.

Gorria pullet. She may be too dark a red, I will need to wait and see. 5.5 weeks.

The next 3 picks are the first two chicks from my round egg laying hen that I have had dismal hatch rates with. Not sure about keeping any of her offspring but I may take a chance on them if they turn out well. I do like their color.  3 wks.

I think I am about 1/2 way through hatching so still lots of babies with potential yet unrealized.

Re: Pictures of some of this years chicks and some of my breeding birds

And here are some of the birds I just put together for my last pair matings of the year. I have to admit these pullets/hens are third and forth priority for breeding but I have been pleasently surprised in the past so may be again.

Little Guy and Sprinkles. Little Guy is the Roo with fertility problems. Sprinkles is momma to the heterozygous barred Roo I just posted a pic of. She is 3 and I haven't used her for breeding until this year due to the mottling. Changed my mind based on her other traits.

Side Sprig and Purple SLF. This is a pair mating I had good success with last year so am trying it again.

Rock and Clemintine. Rock is my worst attitude Roo and I think will come at me sooner or later. He represents some different genetics. Clemintine is a sister to round egg pullet and is not as nice for type.

Red and Clover. Red is such a sweet Roo. He is father to Lucky. Clover hurt her toe (okay I stepped on it with nasty spikes on my boots) so was really just with Red to recover but then I decided to collect eggs...

Lucky and Goji. Lucky is my best Gorria. Goji is also a sister to round egg laying pullet and not as nice type wise but I am going to try her anyway.

Well the two are pretty closely related, I mated half siblings

Gubi I couldn't resist posting the tail shot, I like that picture too and I am not great photographer so it's nice to get a good pic now and then!

Wow!  What a setup you have for them.  You've very dedicated :-)   Bravo!
Nice pairs and I hope you get what you are hoping for.  Always fun to anticipate the next hatch :-)
Chicks are cuties.

Re: Pictures of some of this years chicks and some of my breeding birds

Thanks everyone.  Am VERY fortunate to have a husband willing to help build me such nice facilities.

Red and Clover should be parent in just over two weeks. Clover has laid 14 eggs in 15 days and I set the first dozen late last week. You'd think after 2 month of hatching every week or less it would be getting old....but its not
