Need Input on Chick Down

I recently hatched 3 EOx chicks.  I am trying to figure out whther the father was a Swedish Flower Hen (SFH) rooster or a cream legbar rooster.  Cream legbars and their crosses will hatch with wild type chick down.  That is, they have chipmunk stripes running down their backs.  SFH do not show wild type down.  Likewise, I do not recall that EOs show wild type down in the chicks.  EOs do show barring in their wing feathers as do cream legbars but SFH do not.

Would post some pictures but cannot figure how to do that on this site.

Re: Need Input on Chick Down

No expert, especially on swedish flower hens but...

EO chicks will all be yellow. They may have a redish tint to their fluff or a small black head spot but should otherwise be yellow.

SFH...correct me if I am wrong but could they not have just about any type of chick down being a landrace? Any photos I have seen chicks are all over the map.

Cream legbars are wild type as you stated and can be sexed at hatch with the girls showing a darker strip and much more distinct V on the head.

I would gess these are a cream legbars EO cross but I don't have a lot to back that up with.

Raising red cuckoo (marraduna) Euskal Oiloak and self blue (lavender) & black Belgian Bearded d'Uccles.

Re: Need Input on Chick Down

SFHs are typically a black/blue/splash - base with mottling on top. I think there is a red variety, but it's unusual. These resemble a chipmunk-type pattern, so I'd bet they are EO/Legbar mixes.
