Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

:welcome: karaandblue I hope your upcoming hatches go wonderfully!  I warn you when those EOs get to be about 3 or 4 weeks old and and start clamoring to the front of the brooder to see you your heart will be theirs

What are Coopers and Gibbsons?

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

Welcome karaandblue :EO: you must be friends with coopslave based on your other breeds.  How is she doing?

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

Yes I took coopslaves projects for her while she can't have them right now.
The coopers are PChant x Marans cold hardy dark egg layer. Currently working with blacks blues and splashes, focusing on egg color and combs at the moment.
The Gibsons are another project bird Coop was working on - Wheaton Amerucana x mottled java. They too will be a winter hardy pretty green egg layer. This is the F2 generation so the mottling is appearing in both black and Wheaton (blacks for sure!!) so excited for them as well.
I am really enjoying the steep genetics learning curve. :)
I am excited for the friendly EO's you are right - part of the reason I wanted them. That and the production and genetic ends - they just seem cool
Thanks for the welcome!!!

Sounds like you will do a great job with our EOs! I am glad you have Coopslave's birds. I think of her often and hope she is managing  alright.

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

Thank you Susan! I will let coop know you are thinking of her. She is still on the WCPS Forum and I'm sure she would love a message :)
Poplar Girl I will have to chat with you about EO. We aren't that far apart (2 hrs).
Have a great chicken-y day all!:chickout:

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

You are correct, just a short two hour drive apart. I generally only visit St. Paul once a year on processing day but I'm sure a few EOs would be happy to stop off at your place instead!

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

LOL Poplar girl - they likely would prefer that to the plant ;)
Did you know they raised their prices this year to $4.90/bird rather than $3.90?

Re: Howdy from St Paul Alberta!!

No I was not aware of the price increase, that's a big jump! I just hate processing my own though
All the more reason to try to find homes for as many as possible I guess!
