Is this a wrinkled comb ...

... And would he be automatically disqualified?

Sorry about the grainy picture

Re: Is this a wrinkled comb ...

Do you own an SOP Monika? Take a look at the pictures if you do. I think at worst his comb may result in some point deduction. A twisted comb which I don't think he quite has is only a 1/2 to 1 point deduction for example. I know with the wrinkled wattle Rico said it was a minor fault, nothing to really worry about when I asked him.

Me thinks perhaps you are a serious comb snob and it's not as big a deal as you think :P
Perhaps I'm wrong, it will be good to see what Heather says.

Lol, yes a serious combsnob! I am glad that you think it may not be as serious as I was thinking. I was so focused on getting a good angle of Mr Studly's comb that I did not notice that his color does not look right. In the picture he looks kind of white on top but he is not. Thanks for the feedback.

Re: Is this a wrinkled comb ...

I think a bigger concern would be the size of the comb. It's very large. (Sorry don't shoot me!) just my observation. :chairhide:

Re: Is this a wrinkled comb ...

Hehe I think he was feeling a little left out as Mr Studly,  a lovely EO pullet and my two Porcelain Booted Bantams were getting their baths and having their nails clipped for the upcoming show. I did a vinegar rinse but no glycerin rinse as a video suggested. The group are in wire cages and not too happy about it! They will be off to the poultry barn on Thursday morning, judging is on Friday. Thank you so much for sending me all the info and correspondence. I would love for Heather to send you the results as well as to me. This is more exciting than the last time I entered the show as this time people, including judges, are more aware of what the breed is about.

Re: Is this a wrinkled comb ...

Oh I hope you have a great time Monika! Heather is a great judge for feedback, she really loves to share her knowledge, so it's great she is the one judging. I know you will share her comments with us so I was going to email her back to say just to send them to you but either way. And we do seem to be creating a bit of awareness with the judges and the public which I think is great. I truely believe if we are serious about the breed they will help us move forward with getting EOs recognized if that's where we want to go.

Way to go Monika! Have fun at the show!

When all else fails, go spend time with your chickens. :)

Pens are currently filled with Red Cuckoo (Marraduna) and Red Basque (Gorria) breeders, Spitz, and Seramas.
