4 weeks old!

Well I guess they're probably now of "flock" age. These guys are turning out to be beauties =D

Re: 4 weeks old!

They look great   A  couple of the boys are quite light in colour, not sure who is throwing those, they may darken up a bit as they mature, they change so much before maturity.  Looks like you have some nice pullets in there as well

Thanks for sharing their pictures :jumping:

Yep, I'd say they now qualify as a flock. And a nice looking flock at that

Re: 4 weeks old!

Thanks! I counted 8 pullets for sure maybe a 9th one in there.. Love the boys colors too! What would be the best ratio if I have 8 girls? 1 rooster for 4hens? I'm hoping for 9 girls so I can do 1:3 ratio. Poor hubby will have his work cut out making divided pens hehe. Made me a "proper" chicken tractor Saturday at 2am LOL.
They are all incredibly friendly and my 3year old hugs and kisses them each daily :duh: haha

Re: 4 weeks old!

Kept with a rooster all the time your girls will certainly be missing some feathers at a ratio of 1:3 or 1:4. If the rooster will be kept with the hens all the time I would recommend more like 1:8 or more. Not saying a quad won't be okay, they may be, but it's a pretty high ratio or roosters. You may be better off keeping your best 2 roosters rather than 3. A heir and a spare so to speak.
