What's not to love about Basques?

Hi there!  I'm from the High Desert West and I just heard about Euskal Oiloak.  My sister sent me a link to the squidoo article about them and I'm already head over heals in love with them.  I'm hoping to find someone with eggs to sell later this year.  (I like to hatch a my chickens in both spring and fall.)

And yes, I'm actually of Basque decent, like my username implies.  ;-)

Re: What's not to love about Basques?

:welcome: Basque Girl from Nevada from snowy :Canada: Are you truely mom to 7 and soon 9 children of the human variety?

As for the EOs, I don't think you can go wrong with them. And being of Basque decent yourself it just makes even more sense.

Yes, I do have 7 children going on 9.  (Nope, not preggo with twins; we are adopting two siblings.)

Wow - that does make perfect sense! Especially if you all eat chicken... the stock we have available stateside needs some work to keep them on track, and chicken on the table is how I'm justifying hatching such large numbers here in VA. (well, large for me )

Re: What's not to love about Basques?

:welcome: :EO: I got my first basques through an secret egg exchange where I was partnered up with Claire and have been completely hooked onto the breed ever since.  They are great layers of large brown eggs and great tasting meat.   On top of that they are very nice looking especially those roosters and love to be close to humans.

Herd of Brown Swiss, a few sheep, red cuckoo basque, Silverspangled Appenzeller Spitzhauben, ameraucanas(EE), Welsummer, broodie silkies and a few more heritage hens
