A whole lotta pipping going on...

=D oh how I love the sound of those little EO chicks giving it all they got. The cheeping and the pipping and zipping, egg shells making that little chipping sound when they fall to the floor of the incubator. Music to my ears! =D

Re: A whole lotta pipping going on...

Incubator #1: I have 14 new chicks out of 16 fertile eggs, I originally set 24 eggs. So fertility rate was a little low (67%) but hatch rate was great, I have not opened the last two eggs yet, will give them another nite. These eggs were collected in late January/early February and this was also Studly's first kick at the cat :P so I wasn't expecting too much yet. Incubator #2: There are also 16 of the 24 set eggs (67%) they are due tomorrow. Incubator #3 has 9 of 11 eggs fertile and growing so a better fertility rate at 82%. I also have a Hovabator on the go with 29 of the 32 eggs being fertile, one has stopped growing but I am happy with 91% fertility in that bator. I have been having trouble keeping the temperature stable though so I am not sure how that last hatch will go. There are also other eggs mixed in these bators for a friend and they are looking good too. All in all I am happy with how things are going for this time of year with a younger flock.
