Nice looking birds, wow that is a big difference in the size of the pullets   the deer coloured one, will be really pretty once she matures.

Re: Jan 8th hatch

your deer colored girl might be a gray lady/deer. wonder why your girl is so much smaller. Although, my pure EO that Annie hatch was much smaller than the other girls from the same hatch.

Surprising size difference!  Nice chicks!  You have no snow and can have them outside?    Seriously!!!
My chicks are all in the house, even Paula's 11 week olds.  Dust is driving H. crazy.

All the best,

Kiah and Micah

Re: Jan 8th hatch

...Out of the 18 or 20 pullets in my "Possible breeder" pen, three or 4 are 'larger' birds than the others.  I bet they are full siblings to your bigger birds.  Out of the GFF breeders, 1 is definately larger and maybe another....I need to put them on the scales.  MD, both of those larger Gff hens measured good according to COTH...it will be interesting to see if there is still a difference when they are all mature....?????

I have to keep reminding myself... "It is The Standard of Perfection...NOT the Standard of Quantity that we are striving for..."

Mud? Rain? Really folks...me thinks ya'll protest too much...

MD, interesting on the size difference. I read somewhere size is mostly a result of the genetics of the hen. Not sure where I read it though so perhaps worth more reading.

I'm with you PG. I'd be happy to see mud or rain. All I've got is white, white and more white :cozy:
