Dehydrated dog cookies using chicken

If anyone is interested, I have a dog cookie recipe that uses ground up chicken that you dehydrate. I made some for my son and his new rescue just loves them.

Re: Dehydrated dog cookies using chicken

Hey Monika I wouldn't mind the recipe   Have a new puppy and she is going to be a big girl, 11 weeks old and already 22lbs.  So am looking for something that I can maybe make a bit cheaper as training treats instead of the Benny Bully's.

Thanks!! =D

Pet Treats

2 cups turkey or chicken, cooked
1 cup water
1 cup sweet potato, cooked until soft
1 Tbsp molasses
1&1/2 cups oatmeal, dry uncooked
3 dozen cranberries, fresh or frozen

Shred or chop meat into small pieces, place into food processor (or blender) with water and process until a thick paste is obtained. There should be no meat chunks. Add sweet potato and molasses and puree again. Pour or spoon into a large bowl and add oatmeal, stir and mix well. This mixture should not be too runny if it is add more oatmeal. Spoon mixture onto dehydrator racks by teaspoonful. Place a cranberry on each treat pressing in slightly so that the berry stays on treat. Dehydrate for 4 or 5 hrs until thoroughly dry but not crispy. Store in airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3 weeks.
Variation: you can use frozen blueberries instead of cranberries as well as cooked potatoes instead of sweet potatoes

I have never tried that but I don't see why they couldn't be baked at a low temp. Let us know :please:

I am going to give it a try in the oven, will let you know how they turn out.  I will keep my eyes open for a dehydrator in the meantime as well.

This puppy is growing fast and eating LOTS!!  :nervous:

MD, I know she is going to be a honker.  Her Mother was a LabXBernese Mountain Dog weighing about 90lbs. and Daddy was a Shepherd.

Ain't she cute =D
