Wanted: Olandsk dwarfs....

Ok Poultry Pals,

I seem to have a new hankering. I was on the Greenfire website and found something fabulous - the Olandsk dwarf chicken. These little darlin's are originally from Sweden, and are beyond rare - recently they were down to 54 birds, and are up to something like 200 now. Step in Greenfire, and they look like they may make it after all.

Cute, cute, cute!

Anybody know where they can be found in Canada???

When all else fails, go spend time with your chickens. :)

Pens are currently filled with Red Cuckoo (Marraduna) and Red Basque (Gorria) breeders, Spitz, and Seramas.

Re: Wanted: Olandsk dwarfs....

I agree, Bah!!  They are only bantams they take up half the space and feed as standards (that's my excuse) so go for it

Contact Gwen (Skarabraefarms on PSO), she just imported Swedish Flower Hens and Cream Legbars from Greenfire, maybe she got some of the Olandsk's as well????

MD, what a great project, bantam EO's

Re: Wanted: Olandsk dwarfs....

Maybe for that price we could just recreate them? I have some TPCs with terrible foot feathering and no beard. Cross that will a Mille fleur for a couple generations and voila!

Now the cream leg bars, if you decide to obtain some of those let's talk =D

Raising red cuckoo (marraduna) Euskal Oiloak and self blue (lavender) & black Belgian Bearded d'Uccles.

Re: Wanted: Olandsk dwarfs....

I have a friend outside of Guelph that has gotten some of the Cream Barbanters that I fell in love with.  I am first on her list next year for eggs or chicks, they kind of look like the spitz, can't wait :jumping:

I know, aren't they the cutest.  Big crests and cheek muffs, what more could you want .  They lay a nice large white egg as well, just like the sptiz

Re: Wanted: Olandsk dwarfs....

I was checking out GFF  and saw those cute little chickens, they looked a whole lot like one of Monika's chickens , she's a cross between a Silkie and an EO.  Just a thought, save you a whack of money. Another breed on their site looks like a Mille Fleur D'Uccle cross. There's a lot of interesting breeds on there but when looking closely at them they do look like crosses .
