hoop house coop

here is our hoop house that my husband built for our chickens. it's made from two cattle panels, hardware cloth, some 2x4s, a tarp and plywood. we are also using an electric fence around their pen and added fishing line above to help prevent raptor attacks.
so far everyone is safe and sound.

Re: hoop house coop

Are those cutouts to the Spanish Standard? Need to get me some of those... I read some where that you should have a silhouette of your breed standard on your coop door so you're reminded every day of what your working toward.  :jumping:

I like it! :congrats:

Re: hoop house coop

A great looking coop, your chooks are housed in 5 star accommodations!

MD we still need a silhouette of the basque standard I think, I don't beleive we have found a drawing or picture to use for a silhouette yet. It would be wonderful to have!

Re: hoop house coop

My husband based the hoop off of the designs from this thread on backyard chickens. http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/17279 … en-tractor and http://www.backyardchickens.com/t/17279 … en-tractor

my husband is really tall so we made it taller than the ones in the design. he wanted to be able to walk in without having to bend over.

Re: hoop house coop

That looks fantastic, NP!!!  I love the automatic feeder and waterer design, the nest boxes look perfect, and the cutouts are amazing!  :applause: What, do you have a laser jigsaw in your garage? :funny:

Re: hoop house coop

Thanks. The waterer is working great. We had to put a few bricks underneath so everyone can drink, but when they get bigger it should be good. The feeder still has some kinks to get worked out. It doesn't move the feed down the tube as well as I would hope. DH is working on fixing it today. There a a few other things that we might modify or do differently if we build another. For now it does seem to be working out nicely.

He did a great job with the cutouts. Unfortunatly they are not the SOP for any of our breeds.;)
