Heart attack necropsy pictures, **very graphic**

I thought I would go ahead and post these pictures in case they might help someone in the future. The size of the heart, the mushiness of it on the top part and the pool of blood in the roo's cavity make me believe his death was massive heart failure.

Great photos Monika.  That heart is very large for a chicken.   I believe that your findings are correct.

Wow that is a huge heart for a chicken.  It is so awesome that you were able to autopsy him and conclusively determine cause of death  AND take pictures to document what you found and guide others down the road.

That is pretty big. The liver looks fine doesn't it?  If there had been ananeurysm, you may have got that pool of blood too, but the aorta would have to have been big and flabby and stretched for a while I think to give that sponginess.  I think definitely most likely the poor lad's heart.

Thanks for posting Monika.
