Re: The EO gang

Lovely   They always take such good pics when they are curious of the camera.  Looks like you at least 2 very nice roolets, I am seeing that nice peachy gold we like to see.   Looking forward to more pics as they grow.

FlatRockFarm: LOL...yes, the "toe jam" picture made me laugh!

SkefflingLav Farm: Please excuse my ignorance...but are the roolets the 2 with the dark on their wings in the pic of them all together? I am spending as much time as I can perusing this site and trying to learn, but I'm afraid it'll take time. Pretend I'm in kindergarten class..lol!

Re: The EO gang

The chicks in the :US: a couple of have kept track and the ones with dark wings tend to be females. i don't think anyone in :Canada: has kept track of this.
of course, it was a small batch that i kept track of 6 chicks and Chestnutridge kept track of her 6 too, i think.

they sure are cute.

Re: The EO gang

They are beauties! I think one looks to be developing mille feuille (sp?) colours. I have one of those and she is the prettiest. I have one super roo and 2 close seconds that I will need to find homes for should #1 survive to winter. Normally advice says not to breed the off-colour ones, but out of 2 hens I have a deer and a mille feuille, and one the proper colour so I'm breeding all 3 to my best roo and let Mother Nature do her worst!

Check out the thread on Marraduna colour, as it was SUPER helpful to me.

Re: The EO gang

Sorry it's the same one twice, pic 3! dark wings and the reddish fluff is likely a  female that will be more red than gold.  The bright yellow chicks tend to be fold , and a ton of white on the wings are likely roos.

Longer tails when they first start to get them are females and the first to get the little shoulder blade line of feathers are generally female too!
