Oh My!

I just saw the tiniest baby bird ever! I peaked in my parrotlet's  nest, and aside from 5 other eggs, there is a little, naked baby in there!! Oh boy.

:congrats: That is SO cool!  I'm told mama birds are the best brooders.  I didn't know you raised Parotletts!  Hope you post photos

Re: Oh My!

The pair are from Pops. He can tell you a lot more about them. Right now, in addition to the seed, I am feeding the parents boiled egg, broccoli and celery leaves etc. they will feed the babies. In a few weeks, we might start hand feeding them so they will become tame. This is all new to me too! :)

Re: Oh My!

:congrats: My daughter loves Parrotlets she was never able to get to the point of breeding the 'mated' pair she was sold. If I remember a picture that Pops had posted last spring(?) the babies are so ugly that they are cute, lol!

Susan,

Are you sure that bird got out of the egg on its own?? HOW??????? Nature is amazing.:applause:

When all else fails, go spend time with your chickens. :)

Pens are currently filled with Red Cuckoo (Marraduna) and Red Basque (Gorria) breeders, Spitz, and Seramas.
