First Hatch for Riverbend!

Yahooo! My eggs are rockin' and rollin' today! It is my birthday and I bought 9 fruit trees to start my little orchard, plus my chicks are hatching! I have a collection of Buff Orpington and Columbian Rock chicklets trying to get out. We can hear them peeping and they are rocking about. Not certain what the hatch rate may be as I'm pretty new at this and I'm just using a still-air Hovabator. I'll keep you guys posted as the weekend progresses. Wish us luck, as these will be the first livestock actually born on our farm

Re: First Hatch for Riverbend!

Good luck. Go chickies!

Gubi uses a still air bator and he has good hatches. Just don't open it until you are sure most of them are hatched. It's hard not to want to help, hold, or feed them, but it's best not to go in.

Happy birthday! Fruit trees are a great present for you and the whole family.

It's my birthday, too!  That's pretty funny.  I'm 3-0 today.  Yikes!  I went out and bought some annuals to plant for my mom (that's what I usually do on Mother's Day) and some herbs and vegetables for me.  I'm growing sweet potatoes this year - I hope there's enough for me and the chickens!

Congratulations on your farm's first hatch!  We'll need :pics: as soon as they are available!

When all else fails, go spend time with your chickens. :)

Pens are currently filled with Red Cuckoo (Marraduna) and Red Basque (Gorria) breeders, Spitz, and Seramas.

:happybday: to both of you! :jumping: This is the best time of year for a birthday, summer on the way, everything full of life.  Funny how when you start homesteading and farming you only want farmy gifts or hatching eggs

Good luck with those chicks :hatch:

Re: First Hatch for Riverbend!

4 Buff Orpingtons out of the shell and several more trying hard! Last one born was jet black! Either the egg was mis-labeled or one of those hens has some explaining to do!
