My other addiction too....growing vegetables Pic heavy

I took these last Sunday before I left and it has grown again!!   We were slow getting it in and it is not all planted, but we have all the ingredients for salsa growing, 2 big beds of garlic, then onions, tomatoes, peppers etc! The odd beans and 4 lettuces!

Oh everything looks so lush up your way, looks like you had more rain than us, even my perennials are drying up, NOT GOOD.  Looks strange without the chook run off to the side of your garden, love the Wheaton girls, very pretty.  I don't can anymore, so half of my vegie garden is now cut flowers.  Great pictures!

Aah the chooks are in the barn, hanging about in the shade in the extension, and the tractor by the extension off the barn in the first pic is where blondie is, Speckled Jim is the front of the drive shed and the chicks and broodies are by the barnyard.  I don't want any birds living on that area for a bit just in case there's pox scabs   we are mowing it so the sun can get on it, that and lime are supposed to treat it and kill any pox.  Thing is we still have the wild turkeys all over though less mozzies this year.

We haven't had rain in 9 days, (but it was 3-4 days before the pics) we has a soaking thunderstorm then I guess.  It was dry over by Lindsay too.  We have always had funny little showers when other areas get drought, being so close to the lake maybe.  Not good on the perennials. This morning, I noticed some of he strawberries were smaller and denser today than we had been getting, probably lack of water too.  You can't quite see the hollyhocks and Mexican mint in mine...the other flowers are chamomile for tea!  Self seeded from last year!  There's hyssop and lemon balm too in the herb area.  Most were planted for the bees but OMG were they ever in the lavender today!

Your garden and garlic is coming along nicely! You'll soon be harvesting scapes off those plants - delicious sauteed in butter

:eat: Yum anytime...  It has grown so much since those pics, +30*C will do it I guess, and we have been watering.  Actually we ran out of garlic for garlic in olive oil to brush our homemade pizza crust the other day and got a garlic and cut the whole new white bulb part off and crushed it and was it ever "hot"!  But good though!
