First Hatch of 2012

Well my first hatch of 2012 has started on day 19!!!!  I have a Lyons RollX and seems to be every time I put eggs in they hatch on day 19.  So far 1 EO and 1 EE plus about three more pipped.  Also have the hovobator running as well, but no signs of movement.....yet.  The were scheduled to start on Monday, so the fun has just started :happycrowd"

Will post pictures once they all hatch............

Re: First Hatch of 2012

Monika, well since I have owned this incubator they hatch on day 19, the temp is correct so I am not sure why.  The only thing I don't like is that the first few to hatch are dry and I have to open it to get them out and some of the later ones gets compromised.  They are healthy chicks so it doesn't seem to hinder anything.

Well as of this a.m 3 EO's and 1 EE (it's still dragging around it shell by it's cord).  No signs of anything yet in the Hovo, but they were set to hatch tomorrow anyway.

Re: First Hatch of 2012

Well 10 EO's from the Lyons hatch (SL) and about 10 more in the Hovobator that are Claire's eggs and mine.  PLUS 2 tiny purple chicken chicks, one bantam BLRW, one SL cochin bantam and one bantam EE.
Will post pictures when they are all in the brooder :happycrowd"

Re: First Hatch of 2012

The hovobator still has a few more chicks hatching so am waiting until tomorrow before I take anyone out of there.

I had originally put 60 eggs in,  between both incubators, 10 were duds after 7 day check so that left me with 50.  In the Lyons four EO eggs did not hatch I candled them and I could see embryo's but quite a bit of light through them so I think they must have died at around day 14 when I candled them last.  Also three EE's they are so hard to see through when candling but the air sac was very small at the top so I am thinking they were duds.  The incubator was starting to smell  so I took the last two chicks out and shut it down.

Re: First Hatch of 2012

No not at all, it's just that they looked the same when I candled them at day 14.  So I never know why they did like that sometimes  makes me mad thought :stomp:  I still have a bunch of babies so I am happy with what I have been blessed with.

Re: First Hatch of 2012

Well mine all looked good at  10 and 14, but by 18 there was decided separation in development, I put Xs on 5 of those and none of those 5 hatched. But then 5 off the ones I thought were good didn't make it either, so... . Like you, I'll take what I get, and work with it.
