Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

Ok, Now it's been a week and a half, maybe 2 weeks?  She's getting nasty! She now puffs up and bites me when I take the eggs out from under her! This girl wants to be a mom! ,Now if I could get the extra roos out of here I would give her some eggs. She certainly knows what she wants :)

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

Can you kinda barricade her in where she has gone broody and thereby not have to really move her or the roos? Just asking :doI?:

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

I have a coop in the garage that I put 3 underdog roos in as they were being picked on quite badly. If I can get them out, I could put her there. If she quits being broody there, fine, but if she wants to raise a few babies it would be perfect for her there.

Awesome   You are right Monika.  James, mine went broody right in full swing for eggs.  Will you let your sit?  Blondie was fairly easy to break of it, not like the motherhood obsessed chanteclers here, it would be neat though.  Guess it depends on your space setup and the eggs orders!

Woohoo broodies too :EO:

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

Hey Susan how is this, lets put an addition on the garage, I could lend you some more of the coops and you could go crazy this winter, but don't forget that I need some more eggs lots and lots of eggs " to Hatch "

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

Well, thanks to JCE and his Mom, we did 12 roos today (will be eating our first EO tomorrow) so I now have room to let Fiona ( broody Mom) take a crack at it!  I might move her tonight.....

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

Sounds like you could let her sit Susan, especially with Pops there as a back-up in case you need a place for the chicks to go!

Would love to see pics of the Roos you kept!

Re: What's better than A Euskal Oiloa Hen?

You're more than welcome MD, dinner is at 7! :). I going to stuff him and make mashed potatoes, roast carrots and beets - literally everything that I grew here. I'm very proud of that. It will be a special meal.  And I didn't move Fiona last night- I was tired and cold. Instead I had a few glasses of wine, and watched part of "the Break Up". Today, I will :). PG, I'll work on pics soon, I promise!
