Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Well I am going to visit my Mum in FL from April 7-14, that may work if you send them at the start of April.  Just can't leave the hatching to my husband again, last time it didn't turn out so good :stomp:

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

I'll do my best to make it work mid april then, Paula! Maybe I can find them their own space outside for awhile :). With this wonderfully crazy weather we are having, the girls have been able to get outside almost everyday, not confined for most of the winter as usual.

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Your an angel Claire, thank you.  If mid April doesn't work for Susan and she has to ship them in early April, I may just take you up on the offer.  I will not let Mark be in charge of it again, it was a disaster, well five hatched and survived.  Turns out all three of the araucanas are rooster :duh::banginghead: So I have NO hens, and the Coronations turned out to be one rooster and one split hen :banginghead:
Plus side they are beautiful....any one what a Araucana rooster??? LOL

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

No problem, :snowman:  That is a shame.  You can at least breed that pair and get half pure half splits right? Are they friendly?  :doI?:

Nathan can be left alone with Sportsman and is actually was more diligent than I at filling the water troughs. Once we had the moisture pails on the top it wasn't even an issue anymore.  I imagine with a smaller unit there could be more fluctuation.  Sometimes the shipping takes it's toll too.

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Yes that's right I could breed the split hen and get 1/2 and 1/2, yes the Coronations are friendly and BIG.  Plus I have an older pair from Stephane on PSO that I purchased in Aug. So I have a start.  Am getting some Araucana eggs from Syble in the spring as well, so will give me some from a different line.
Hard trying to time getting eggs from other sources to coincide, but can't wait :chickout:

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Talk about tempting :doI?:  I saw Sandy's Roo last year, I was impressed with the speckled sussex hen she brought to the poultry learning day.  That hen behaviour reminded me of an EO. When they were  doing the lecture on showing, the birds were all in cages, wherever the speaker was, that hen was at that side of the cage looking at him.  When they took her out and were talking about her, and holding her she relaxed, shut her eyes and went to sleep.

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Just checking that those who answered this post previously are still interested in the said amount of eggs at the said time.  I'm writing down the sending dates so I don't forget someone. I'd like to be done by late May (maybe June) and let everyone run wild! Also, the option exists for Gorria eggs.    :layer:

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

I realize this thread is old, but I am interested in picking up eggs next spring in Canada if anyone is close enough to provide them. I have family in Saranac, NY which is on the US/Quebec border. Is this possible for anyone? Any ideas? :US:

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

DG, I would think Claire, Paula, Lisa , Gubi, MGF, may be able to supply eggs next year.  Not sure who else.
PP, I will probably start separating breeding groups in December. Remind me then if you would like eggs. I didn't put out a waiting list this year, as I am already at capacity for egg orders, but I'm sure I can squeeze out a few more :)

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Thanks very much, Susan. It's still a little early to make definitive plans but I'm thinking ahead. I have some people in my area interested in EOs and I'd really like to get a nice flock going.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread.. :thanks:

Re: Waiting List for EO hatching Eggs 2012

Whenever Young Heritage gets their "batch", we'd like one also! We can pick up from them if it's alright with everyone :)
