Please critique this cockerel

This morning as I sat on my stool clicking as many angles as I could of this fellow I daydreamed that I was very wealthy and could send you all airplane tickets to come and help me do this in person, wouldn't that be fun! There would be so much for you to see here on the Island! But this is the best I can do for now

When I saw pgs photo of her boy and she thought his coloring was too light I got very worried and thought I better have you critique this fellow, please don't hold back!! I do know that his legs appear white but they do have some yellow in them albeit very light yellow. Now I am concerned about the number of points on his comb as well.

I like him.  He has a good meaty built!  Nice head and comb.  slop of back,  you will have to wait and see how his tail grows right now it is a little low.  He is a little too light in color especially his legs and beak almost look white.  all in all he is a good typed red cuckoo basque and his color could be bleached out from the sun in the picture as his 3rd picture he appears to have much better color.   Your pullets look nice in the background!

Re: Please critique this cockerel

I like him too Monika.

He has white legs, probably carries the recessive yellow though. That would mean if you mate him with yellow legged girls about 50% will have yellow legs and the other half will still carry it.

His color is too light but with some of the pullets from Ontario (going by what I have!) if you mate him with them you will likely get some really nice results. He doesn't have the grey which is important.

His comb is a nice shape in my opinion. May have one extra point but that is very minor. He isn't developing a side sprig on the back in the left side is he?? Probably fine but just be sure.

And size and shape, I really like. He looks like he's going to be nice and big and wide. To Gubi's point how does he hold his tail normally, more upright or like in the photo? I am also seeing that the tail angle of our EOs is getting too low.

Good looking boy. I like his width.  How many weeks?

Won't his tail come up as he comes of age?  he looks young by his comb size, can't see spurs...

Re: Please critique this cockerel

Thanks for the comments  I had a really good hard look at him again today and considered everything that was mentioned here and decided he was not a keeper after all. It was a hard choice but when I finally checked his wings over I am quite sure he had a split wing andl he was carrying his tail rather low when I compared him with even younger boys. With the light color and white legs and the split wing as too I decided on another roo. This fellow was about 17ish weeks old in the picture.
