Colwyn is Official!

H'Lo All!  =D

Just got my copy of the program for the 2013 Colwyn Championship Showcase - and we're in it!! Hold Saturday, September 28th in your calendars!

Under class numbers and breeds, look under "Mediterranean" - class number is 65b. Basque!!! Yeah!!!

Not only are we allowed to take our birds, but lots of people look at this program ahead of time and will be asking "what is THAT??". Should be good for generating interest.

For those wanting to show, the entries close on September 18th (which is when the forms and money need to be in the organizer's hands), and entries are $2 per bird. I looked at the website and the entry form is not yet available there, but it should be up soon. It would be great to have entries from lots of EO owners to prove to the organizers that there is some genuine interest in these lovely birds. Let's make some buzz!

The class number is listed as "AC" which I think is all colours, but I'll call and ask if we can separate the birds into Maradunna and Gorria colour patterns, since this is what we have the Spanish standard worked up for. Can't see a problem entering our spotted birds under Maradunna or Gorria, depending on their background colours (build the barn before you paint it...).

Glenda/Paula, might Paula's display be available for that weekend?

So exciting!

Re: Colwyn is Official!

I mailed everything I had to Glenda to use, if she wants to pass it over to you after this weekend at the Orangeville Fair that's fine with me.  If not I can email/fax you a copy of my handout sheet and the site I got the information from for the dispaly.

Looks like it's my weekend to work even after I asked for it off, guess someone got their request in before me :stomp:

Re: Colwyn is Official!

**Update**

I just spoke with one of the organizers. She has requested that we put the colour on the registration form for Basque entries as well as the breed. She's not sure if they will be judged separately or all together.

Also, if anyone wants her to mail an official Colwyn program to them, please send me your contact info asap, and I'll forward to her. She says the registration form should be up on the website soon.

In case anyone is interested, the Colwyn is hosting the District meet for the Chantecler Fanciers International and the District meet for Cochin International. Should be an awesome show!

Re: Colwyn is Official!

That's great! Do you know who your judge will be yet? Please  check for crooked breast bones on your birds all the way down their breast bone. Rico caught a curve on MrStudly that he did not pass onto Muffie, next years roo, but these things can be easily overlooked.

Just reread this post of mine and I see I had my head firmly up my arse when I wrote it...ummm, Muffie  is not Mr Studly's son, lol, duh ... so I'm not sure what I was thinking when I wrote that

Re: Colwyn is Official!

Kathy,

If you want to send me your address, I'll forward it and you can get your own free program (with an entry form attached). It was stupidly exciting to see the Basques listed! Otherwise, it'll be up on the Colwyn website soon.   http://www.colwynshowcase.com/2013/Welcome.html

Glenda,

Awesome! And thanks!

Monika,

Thanks for the heads up! Will start fondling my contenders soon! =D

Re: Colwyn is Official!

I think I'd go with the entry form date. I can check with the organizers and ask them to update the website. There is definitely a class for Basque and its 65b. I believe they have last years breed classes up on the website.
Hope you can make it! So much fun. There'll be a food booth there too selling burgers and pop and donuts...lol...look for me in the chicken apron and say hi!!

Re: Colwyn is Official!

I spoke with the organizers. The deadline is September 18th
The class is 65b
If you wish you can put the colour on the list, although they will be judged as any colour....they are probably looking for the barn as Lisa puts it.

Hope we see lots of EOs!

Thanks Helliefant!  We hope to enter 1 Gorria pullets a couple Gorria cockerals, and at least three Maradunas  haven't decided if I'll risk taking Elevator and the hens or just pullets and cockerals

That was the plan.  the book says Basque all colours but the mille wasn't one of the colours discussed with the organizers so   don't know what to do!

Could you not just enter them as AOV (Any Other Variety) M&K?

Re: Colwyn is Official!

I would still take them even if its to find out how the shapes compare with each other. Right now I think it's more about getting the correct shape. The more that come, the more interest they may get. I personally like the Mille colouring on EOs. Not so fond of it on bantams....

Re: Colwyn is Official!

Kathy,

Bring the millies! I will likely be bringing either one or two old millie hens (I'll list them as Maradunna because that's their background colour). Let's get the judge to help us nail down the barn thing!! Besides, they are totally cute, and you may end up with a bunch of interest/customers out of it....

Re: Colwyn is Official!

Looking forward to it but most of all looking forward to spending the day with you and Hellielfant!  :happycrowd"  Did I tell you that my 6 year old nephew will be showing his TPCs there? I am assisting him with bathing the TPCs and Micah is helping him get his show transport box made.  (Micah is VERY handy, the box has Mahogany underlay!)

Re: Colwyn is Official!

Awesome!

There will be a number of TPC's coming - I'm hoping we can talk to the judge afterward and get him to give us a few pointers....

Make sure your nephew is listed as a junior... could be a prize in it for him!
