Chicken Boy

When our friends/neighbours come round they just cant believe how friendly our EO roo, Seven Up, is.  DS is his very favourite person and can do anything with him.  When DS sits near, Seven Up is always first up to see what treats are in store and get a hug.

Re: Chicken Boy

That is a wonderful picture pp, it is so clear and colorful! I love that you have such a friendly roo. What a great way to get kids interested in chickens.

Re: Chicken Boy

Seven Up is almost 18 months old now FRF and is more friendly than he was as a youngster.  Do they normally change after a longer time?

Re: Chicken Boy

No they don't. Friendly stays. What a sweet pic. And I have still to meet a nasty Euskal Oiloa Roo. Little chicken whisperer man you have there!

Re: Chicken Boy

I must be the only one that gets the nasty EO roosters then.  Had two last year.......their gone.  The boys this year are not nasty but dance around my feet, I have been attacked so many times that I am always guarded around them and never take my  off them.

I am so glad PP that 7Up is a nice boy and he enjoys your son's attention

Re: Chicken Boy

In that big group of cockerals we had a few toughies but Elevator just took care of it for me.  Now, with the young 4 month old cockeral, he was very full of himself and I had to use Claire's technique a few times before he didn't attack me.  Now, he is very respectful.  Which is good, cause he is a cutie!

Re: Chicken Boy

Paula,

You are not the only one! We had a maradunna that was quite rotten - used to attack Doug quite frequently (was better with me, but I think he believed I was one of his hens!). Name was Robbie, long for R.B., which was for Rotten B..... =D He made lovely chicks though.... (he is currently in the freezer).

When all else fails, go spend time with your chickens. :)

Pens are currently filled with Red Cuckoo (Marraduna) and Red Basque (Gorria) breeders, Spitz, and Seramas.
